Lessons in Golf

It is true indeed that there are many avenues one can take to improve their golf game. People seek help to add distance to their drives, improve their putting, lower their handicaps, lower their golf score and the list goes on. The avenues that provide the answers towards improvement range from: golf tips, golf teaching aids, golf instructors, online golf videos, step-by-step tutorial guides, etc. Though a lot of these are available at hand, it is extremely important to step back and think about a few things before accepting any of this help.

First and foremost, the worst thing that happens to some people when seeking for improved technique is taking bad advice and then applying it. This happens too often and in some cases those select few, end up with a worse swing than they may have had from the start. In other cases their golf game can be hurt permanently due to injury. Due to the fact that there are a lot of unproven techniques out there, you can never be too sure. There’s good and then there’s bad.

It is a given that consistent practice using the proper form in golf, is the best way towards improvement. Anyone can tell you this because it is true for any other sport as well. Golf instructors will tell people this over and over. Yet while you can be set on the right path, that one piece of wrong advice may cause for a bad habit that you can’t easily break. There’s no way you can fully improve at the rate you’d like while at the same time you’re trying to unlearn that one bad habit.

How do you know the real deal versus the wrong? Well, if you are looking for hands on instruction then you will most likely be searching for an instructor to help you with your game. Be sure to do a little background research on the instructor first. Credentials are a huge indicator of whether he/she is formally fit for your specific needs. Look at things like education, sports medicine background, professional history, etc. Has this instructor conducted golf clinics? Research the number of students he/she has given individual lessons to previous. While he/she may play a good game, it is also important to look at the credentials.

A great instructor truly enjoys teaching the game of golf. Having a little extra insight will allow you to be fully confident that instructor will be able to help you with your game. You want to get in with those who their entire life is golf and they are truly teaching professionals, able to diagnose and fix whatever it is you need to work on (i.e. golf swing).

As for seeking advice in general, it’s really hard to identify as “bad” right off the bat. There are many tips, techniques and aids proposed and not all may be right for you. Your safest route is to get full proof of what’s working for lots of people. This can be accomplished through personal recommendations, online research reviews and simply asking around. Those who have benefited from the proposed techniques obviously followed good advice. This way you can’t go wrong.

Now, to be a great competitive golfer you need golf goals. This can’t be stressed enough. Golf goal setting is so important to playing your very best. They will help you avoid wasting time and energy by giving you the direction, the destination and the roads you need to take to get you where you want to go with your game. It has been proven that those who make commitments to set and monitor their golf goals, experience dramatic improvements in their game overall.

There are all sorts of fun goals you can set for competitive golf that can motivate rather than frustrate you. Simple and measurable goals are both important. You can set goals to take steps in better managing tension or increase your confidence; better time management; finding a plan and setting goals for improving strength and conditioning; identifying nutrition and hydration goals for each competitive round; learning to assess challenges and set effective mental goals for before each competitive round, etc. You have to truly possess the passion to pursue them as well. The ones that are important to you are the ones that are actually going to help you get where you want to go.

As mentioned above in goals, your mental game is equally pertinent to your improvement as your physical. Psychology plays a big part. You really want to start using your mind in a way that completely transforms your entire game. This will essentially increase accuracy with every club in your bag all by using your mind properly. You want to make inner confidence a habit from the 1st tee to the last putt.

Gaining unstoppable confidence in yourself and your game can also dissolve performance anxiety and allow you to perform like a champion. Along with confidence, you must also eliminate anger from your game forever. The best golf games are played with an amazing sense of joy and calm. Fine tuning that mental focus, control and toughness of your’s is going to be accredited the largest portion of your success.

Finally, this is very important so you don’t waste your valuable time or money. Many golf enthusiasts have provided a lot more positive feedback when it comes to step-by-step tutorial guides that can be accessed right at their finger tips (i.e. online golf videos, eBooks and audios). There are many aids out there but choosing one that truly works for improving your golf game is pertinent to actually learning how to golf like a pro. If you’re seeking complete game transformation, choosing the best online golfing aid is that much more important.

Like mentioned within the rights and wrongs, always go with personal recommendations and what’s truly working for many others. Expert reviews are continuously used to tell people about the most effective golf teaching aids online that give golfers the biggest bang for their buck. Reviews similar to this one, along with the powerful proof, success stories and personal recommendations are all extremely important factors when seeking.

Learning to golf like a pro should be fun, easy, convenient and most of all, inexpensive. From here on it’s an easy concept…just pure, natural play. Key Elements Of A Great Golf Swing

All great golfers will do certain things really well in their setup and their golf swing.  Common elements that all the pros have include a good setup.  A fundamentally correct setup consists of having a good grip, correct alignment, good posture, as well as having good ball position in your stance.  Often times just making adjustments in your setup will be half the battle in getting your swing more on the correct path.  When you are misaligned in your setup, you’ll have to make compensations in your swing to offset it which will never really allow you to reach your potential.

The swing plane is a common thing many golf instructors talk about when referring to the path of the golf swing.  Basically, swinging the club on plane correctly consists of a good takeaway and wrist set, and then swinging the club over the right shoulder in the backswing(for the right-handed golfer).  The impact position should mirror the setup position other than the hips will be slightly open and the hands forwards and a little ahead of the golf ball through the hit.  After impact, the club continues to swing all the way over the left shoulder and the body should end up facing directly towards the target.

I like to encourage my students to swing with good balance and smooth rhythm.  You never want to swing so hard that you find yourself off balance anytime during your golf swing.  Typically the backswing will be about three times as long as the downswing.  You want the club to swing fastest right when it is at the bottom of the swing arc hitting the golf ball.

Outdoor Sports Surfaces: High in performance, low in maintenance

Artificial outdoor sports surfaces are becoming quite a trend at sports facilities – be it at club school or professional level. With international sports associations like FIFA and UEFA approving artificial sports pitches, the sports facilities – both big and small around the world are opting for artificial or synthetic surfaces for playing a wide range of sports.

Outdoor sports surfaces could include football, rugby or hockey pitches, athletics tracks, tennis, basketball or netball courts etc. In some cases, the same surface could be used for a variety of sports. Such a sports pitch is known as a Multi-use Games Area (MUGA). These are quite common in clubs and schools.

Artificial turf, is being increasingly used as outdoor sports surface for a variety of sports, including football or soccer, basketball, netball, hockey, and many more. Also known as synthetic turf, these are man-made surfaces that are made to give the same look and feel as that of natural grass. Artificial turf is made of synthetic fibres with varying pile height. There are usually three varieties- unfilled, sand-dressed and sand-filled, available. And any one of these can be chosen depending on the requirements of the games to be played on them and of course, the cost involved. For instance, unfilled pitches are ideal for hockey, as they are not filled with sand or rubber, and hence protect players from injury by minimising the abrasive effect caused by sand. These artificial outdoor sports surfaces are also known as water-based pitches, as they require wetting at regular intervals.

Many sports facilities install artificial turf that is sand-dressed. These surfaces are not only cost-effective, but also give the same look as that of an unfilled pitch. In this case, the turf pile is filled with fine sand, but only up to 5-8mm from the tips of the fibres. Sand-filled outdoor sports surfaces are rough and harder compared to the other two types. The pile, in this case, is completely filled with sand.

The length of the fibres and the degree of sand-fill can be altered to meet the specifications and requirements of different sports. For instance, hockey pitches are made up of shorter fibres when compared to football pitches. Shorter pitches with lesser sand-fill offer more speed to the movement of the ball.

Whatever be the type of the artificial turf chosen, it offers the best playing conditions for the players. Besides offering firm grip, it may feature a “shock pad” that protects the players from serious injuries when they fall. Low in maintenance, these artificial outdoor sports surfaces can be used in all weather conditions. So, no more worries in long dry summers, frozen winters, or heavy rainfall. The pitch will be ready for the play as well as practice sessions all year round.
